Blogging Mistake 1- Not creating niche-related Content

New bloggers make big mistakes in the first place by creating mixed type content without choosing a strong trending blog niche. As a result, knowingly or unknowingly, They confuse both search engines and readers.

If search engines are confused about what a website is, the indexing and ranking of the site suffer.

Readers get annoyed when they find unwanted content on your website repeatedly. Eventually, they decide to leave your blog.

Thus, a blog with mixed content suffers its ranking and traffic that resulting in a halt in its progress. That's the greatest obstacle to the progress of the blog.

Practical Experience Sharing

Techazu is designed to guide Bloggers and YouTubers and help them solve their technical problems. This is clearly stated in the title and description of this site. Each of the content published here discusses what bloggers should and should not do to achieve success.

I haven't published content for YouTubers yet. However, I have the plan to publish content for Youtubers and Vloggers from next month.

My journey of blogging began in May 2020 with the Blogspot sub-domain on the Blogger platform. I published content on multiple niches there such as digital marketing, motivation, blogging, and a few articles on health and wellness.

After two months, I observed, there was no improvement in traffic and rankings.
After an investigation, I arrive at two conclusions-
  • to convert the subdomain (free domain) into a custom domain, and
  • to publish only niche related content.

''Edumedia.co.in'' is the first domain that I bought from Blogger and simultaneously bought ''EdumediaBelness.com'' from Godaddy to transfer health-related content on it from the first website.

You may be curious to know the improvement of the actions I've taken in July 2020.
I'll show the evidence while discussing blogging mistake 2.

Before that, you should know the way to avoid this mistake.

How to avoid this Mistake?

After choosing a powerful niche, each content should be centered around it. All successful bloggers follow this rule. You should do the same.

Thousands of content can be created around a compelling niche, without any duplicates.
So, you shouldn't go beyond the boundaries of your niche.

If you have already published any irrelevant content, either delete it or update it in a way that makes it niche-centric. In a month or two, you will notice improvement.

Blogging Mistake 2-Attention to Quantity Instead of Quality

You will find many new bloggers who are crazy about building a blog and publishing a targeted quantity of content on it. And, as soon as that target is met, they become over-excited.

They act as if they have received a 'guarantee card' for a million dollars in monthly income from their blogs.

It becomes too late for them to realize such a big mistake, and fixing the issues becomes complicated.

Now, I'm going to show the evidence of page views and the ranks of the two sites I mentioned in the previous section.

Page Viewers of edumedia is growing steadily after correcting mistakes

Page Viewers of edumediawellness is healthy

Despite the quantity is fewer in the 2nd domain than the first, page views are more than 2x.

You can also check the DA/PA of the two URLs with WebsiteChecker.

The domain authority and page authority of the 2nd domain are 5x higher than the first.

Best Solution for avoiding the mistake.

Focus on Quality as well as Quantity. That means you should give importance to both quality and quantity.

But I want to remind you that quality comes first.
And, of course, the long-form content. with adequate internal and external linking.

According to Hubspot, the articles with a length of 2,250 - 2,500 words earn the most organic traffic.

According to Backlinko,94% of the total content  published on the internet have zero external links

Blogging Mistake 3- Not creating captivating Titles for the Blog Posts

A High-quality blog post often becomes undervalued only for not having a captivating title or headline. That's why blogging experts care about catchy title generation and spent hours on it.

Few bloggers, especially those who are new, understand the importance of engaging titles for their blogs.

So When it comes to creating titles, they prefer their own whims or preferences.
They don't even realize that they've made a big mistake.

But the truth is a brilliant title for a blog post can boost organic traffic to your site and increase visibility in search results.

What should you do for generating a title for a blog post?

  • Select the topic on which you are going to create a blog post.
  • Select the keyword(s) that you want to include in the title.
  • Create a short and sweet title that includes the following words-
keyword, power word, and emotional word.
According to Optinmonster, a title with 6-8 words can increase CTR by 21%.

Blogging Mistake 4- Creating Content without Keyword Research

Creating a blog post should start with keyword research, but many bloggers are lazy to do it. I have explained the importance of keyword research and how to do it.

You know that to rank on SERPs, the title of a blog post should include Keywords. So, if you ignore doing keyword research, you can't create SEO-friendly titles for your content, which is a severe mistake.

Best solutions

Read the article on Keyword Research.

Insert keywords in the title and the first paragraph as that is crucial for creating quality content.

Insert keywords in H2 and H3.

Distribute the target keywords throughout the article, including the long-tail keywords.
Insert keyword in Alt Text of images

Avoid keyword stuffing.

Blogging Mistake 5- Publishing Highly Competitive Content

You've got a lot of advice on creating unique content. Have you ever think about the meaning of unique content? If not, continue reading to refresh your knowledge.

Many bloggers say, if the content is not duplicate, then it is unique.

Google has nowhere given this kind of explanation of unique content. According to Techazu, unique content means useful and informative but non-competitive or less competitive content.

Google has millions of content on a single topic that are identical. If you create a similar type of existing content that is ranking on the search page, you have to compete with the existing one.

But, if your content is exceptional, informative, and useful to readers, it will be considered unique and easily ranked in Google search.

So, focus on creating less competitive or non-competitive content.

There are many blog posts where you'll find a long list of blog commenting sites - 50 sites, 100 sites, even 1000 or more.

You won't be able to comment on all of those as many sites have stopped commenting.

Now, if you create a blog post with a list of 5000 commenting sites like those, you still have to face a lot of competition for ranking.

Around 2 months ago, Techazu published an article on the topic of blog commenting. That single content has gained about 600 views. Instead of getting a long list, you'll learn there how to find a lot of do-follow commenting sites and create your own list accordingly.

If a fisherman gives some fish as a gift, you'll get food for a few days. But if he teaches you fishing techniques, you can eat fish for life. That's the greatest gift for you.

Blogging Mistake 6- Copying Content from Other Websites

Many new bloggers copy articles from another blog, then rewrite and post them on their own blogs. In other words, they publish plagiarism content on their sites.

They think it is easy to deceive Google by claiming that the stolen content is their own. But they have no idea about the cleverness of Google.

Furthermore, this pedagogy they teach others through YouTube. As a result, they hurt their own sites as well as other bloggers.

They say, copy the content that's ranking, rewrite it with software, and check it with a plagiarism checker, then it becomes unique.

If they were right, then only one content creator and everyone else would be the copier.
Better to stay away from those bloggers as they can never be good teachers.

The truth about duplicate content.

Transferring content or idea of others to your blog attracts Copyright infringement that means it is illegal.

For detecting duplicate content, Google Panda (algorithm) is there.
If your site contains a significant amount of duplicate content, the complete domain may be penalized.

Duplicate content includes content copied from your other sites and other pages of the same domain.

The best solutions.

Citation of the Source is the best solution to avoid duplication.

If you think the content created by others is useful, quote a few sentences with proper attribution. For your own site, the same rule applies.

Blogging Mistake 7- Publishing Content without Proofreading

Before publishing the blog post, proofreading is crucial. Professional bloggers invest remarkable hours for proofreading, depending upon the size of the content.

But, most new bloggers think of it as a wastage of time. Many of them don't understand the importance of proofreading. So, they neglect this vital aspect of creating quality blog posts which is a terrible mistake that you shouldn't make.

Proofreading refers to the thorough checking of text to detect and correct mistakes like typo errors, punctuations, grammatical, and other tiny mistakes. Proofreading is the final task in the process of reviewing a document before making it available to the public.

Proofreading helps minimize errors, enhances the quality of blog posts, and increases the credibility of the pages of your blog.

The best solution

Before hitting the submit button, check the text word to word twice. Read the entire document forward and backward. Make sure that small mistakes are not overlooked. Revise each subheading and point and think about whether it could be better.

If you've published some blog posts without effective proofreading, you should check those posts right now and correct the errors, if any. That means you should edit and update the existing posts if needed.

Blogging Mistake 8- Neglecting Periodical Checking/Monitoring of the site.

Periodical site audits help to find and fix technical issues. Regular monitoring of the site will help get rid of severe problems.

In the last month, while auditing the sites, I found out that one of my domains suddenly became disappeared from Google SERPs.

After investigation, I've detected that the site was wrongly connected in Google my business. I communicated to Google and fixed the issue within 72 hours.

I was saved from the tremendous loss of traffic. As I monitor the site twice a week, it quickly came to my notice.

How to avoid this dangerous blogging mistake?

Check the URL of your blog with a powerful site audit tool, like Seobility. Fix the critical issues immediately.

Blogging Mistake 9- Not spending enough time or effort on content promotion.

Why can't your boyfriend/girlfriend make a significant income from delicious food despite cooking better than the chef of a 7-star hotel? The reason is that there is no promotion of these delicious home-cooked meals.

Similarly, if your blog has more valuable content than a reputed site, but its value is not exposed to the public due to a lack of effective promotion, they remain undervalued.

In the last week, I published one video content on Edumedia, a new Youtube channel.
The video is about the awards program of a multinational company to its marketers that got great positive feedback as a result of effective promotion to the target audience.

Below is the image I used in the thumbnail of the video.

You can watch the Awards Video of the Berlin conference of Tiens from the link.
I'd like to mention that the awards were distributed as per the old plan effective up to 2016.

In the new plan, they offer cash awards.

The easy ways to avoid this

Invest time and effort in the promotion and marketing of each blog post.

Build an excellent promotion strategy where writing and promotion go hand in hand like a crazy couple in love.

You should act like successful bloggers who give equivalent weight to content marketing along with writing.

Promote each blog post consistently to social media and other platforms that fit your blog.
Perhaps you know that 97% of bloggers promote their blog posts on social media.

Blogging Mistake 10-Quick Connection to Google Adsense

Recently, a group of people came to the blogging profession with the sole purpose of getting the approval of Google Adsense.

Whatever the quality, they are quick to publish a few blog posts and apply for AdSense approval.

And, they perceive AdSense approval as a way to unravel the secrets of success in their lives.

The best solution

The only way to avoid this mistake is to wait for the right time to apply for AdSense approval.

The key points to keep in mind:

  • The age of  Your blog is over 12 months.
  • Your site contains over 50 long-form, high-quality, and unique articles.
  • The number of daily page visitors is more than1000.
The article on the easy ways to blog monetization on this site where I described when to apply for Google Adsense will help you get more knowledge.

Final Thoughts

Mistakes are part of progress in blogging or any other project if you're not repeating the same.
But as a blogger, not correcting a mistake after detecting it is the worst blogging mistake.
