A guest contribution is a win-win game. Both parties gain the benefits of it.

The website owner gets high quality-informative content created by you. In exchange, you get backlinks. Quality backlinks are SEO booster, an important Google ranking factor.

But this is not the end of the story. As a guest contributor, you'll enjoy multiple benefits that I'm going to describe here.

 Incredible Benefits of Guest Posting

If you publish your posts on the perfect sites, you'll enjoy manifolds benefits. Even you can get better benefits than whatever you post on your own blog.

Here are some incredible benefits that you can get from guest posts in the right places.

  • New Audience- Reach out to an expanded audience is the essence of every content marketer. A guest post to high authority sites amidst enormous readers is a common tactic.

  • Brand Awareness- Guest blogging opens up opportunities for your brand to reach a wider audience. Consistent posting of worthy posts to the right place increases credibility and establishes reputation.

  • Relationship- Building a long-term relationship with the editor or the owner of a reputable high authority site will lead to further collaboration. For that, you need to post consistently instead of posting the once-off single piece.

  • Referral Traffic- You can gain tons of referral traffic from the high-quality guest post to high authority sites.
  • Email List- It strengthens your blog's CTA to build your email subscribers. A penetration of referral traffic to your website can help grow your mailing list that is the essential resource of your email marketing campaigns.
  • Backlinks- Certainly, getting backlinks is one of the essential benefits which I've listed at last.  No, I haven't forgotten it. For many bloggers, it is the exclusive purpose of guest blogging. I'd like to tell you, although important, it shouldn't be the only purpose of guest blogging.

The following statistics will help you understand better the importance of guest blogging:

  • Nearly 63% of readers think blogs with multiple contributors have greater credibility.
  • You may wonder to know,  some guest bloggers (3%) post more than 100 articles per month.
  • 60% of bloggers write 1 to 5 guest posts every month.
Now, the inevitable question is how to get started. Don't worry! I'm going to provide a simple step-by-step guide.

Step 1- Create a strong guest blogging strategy with clear sets of Goals.

A random guest post without a goal is like running a boat on water without a steering oar.

The goal can provide a road map that helps know the direction towards the destination. Determine the outcomes you're expecting from guest blogging.

It is crucial to define the frequency of posts and the number of content needed (to get the expected results).

Step 2- Get a List of Guest Posting Sites

The next step is to find the perfect opportunities for publishing your articles. It is crucial.
What does it mean? It means finding the perfect sites that allow you to contribute to their sites.

Here is the checklist to help you find the right opportunity.

  • Relevancy- A sites relevant to your niche is fit for guest posting. A guest post to an irrelevant site is considered spammy.
  • Authority- Guest post on high authority sites (check DA/PA/Alexa ranks) help achieve your goals. You know, backlinks from all sites can't pass link juice or SEO value. Similarly, to reach a larger audience, you should choose high authority sites.
  • Quality and Quantity of Content- High-quality content always attracts readers. But the quantity of blog posts published and frequency of posting also matters.
  • Engagement-The engagement of readers is one of the crucial factors you should consider while posting your article. Read the comment section carefully to judge the engagement.
  • Social Presence- Make sure that the publisher or blog owner actively presents on social media. It will ensure the promotion of your content on social sites. A strong social presence of the site help boosts referral traffic.
About 90% of marketers say their social marketing efforts have increased exposure for their business and 75% say they have increased traffic.
  • Age/Reputation- If the brand is not a reputed one, check at least the age. A brand new blog is not ideal for guest posts.

Now, you'll learn the methods of finding the guest posting sites.

There are several ways to find guest post sides, such as using Google search, social search, and from the competitor's guest posts, etc.

In this article, I'd like to share the best method that's by using Google search.
Yes, using the search bar of this popular search engine, you'll find tons of guest blogging opportunities.

How to get a list of guest posting sites using Google search?

Again, it is divided into two methods, such as:

  1. Find an article prepared and published by someone which contains a list of sites.
  2. Find the relevant sites using the appropriate search string and make a list of your own.
If you think getting a ready-made list is the better option, it's okay. I'm not going to argue with you.

Type ''list of guest blogging sites'' on the search bar of Google, you will find different content with different size of the list. Here is the screenshot of the outcome.

Step 3- Create Actionable Pitch

Pitching is a crucial step in the world of guest blogging. Perfect pitching catches the attention of the publishers.

The relationship between you and the blog owner will start the pitching. Getting approval to publish your article on the site of others depends mostly upon the quality of pitches.

So you need to get prepared for the pitch. Do a mini-research first.

Visit the site before pitching. Go through the About page, Contact page, and of course, the recent posts. Don't forget to peek at the Blog comments section.

Before pitching, find and read the guidelines of guest posting thoroughly.
Okay, proceed to pitch now. The following tips will escort you.

Tips on Pitching

  • Personalize your pitch-  Don't start with ''Dear Blogger'' or ''Dear Site Owner''. Address by name is the perfect starting point, like Hi, John!
  • Create a compelling Subject Line- The success of guest posting starts with the pitch, and the success of the pitch starts with the eye-catching subject lines. This is first the element through which you can reinforce the publisher to open the mail.
  • Introduce Yourself- Let the owner know who you are. Write your Bio and link to your home page, if the publisher allows it (most sites allow, but not all).
  • Prove your skills, experience, and value- Show your expertise. Tell the publisher about your skills, experiences, and what value you can add to their audience.
  • Write a summary of content- Tell the publisher what the content is about.
The length of your mail should be within 150-200 words.

Once you get the approval, proceed to write your Guest Post.

Step 4-Create Compelling Content and Submit.

If your goal is to publish your article on high authority sites, you would have to create high-quality content.

If you're intended to post to get backlink without adding value for the audience, high authority sites are not the right places for you.

The key to creating high-quality content is to write it for the audience.

For high authority sites, you're not alone to contribute. You have to compete with several guest authors. Moreover, high authority sites wouldn't accept marginal or low-quality content.

They always post exclusive high-quality content on their sites. That's why they became high authority sites.

Brian Dean of Backlinko said to create ''content that changes minds, sparks conversation and spurs action'' for them.

Create a catchy headline- Craft the headline of your guest post similar or better than the Best Blog Post Title, You create always.

The Rules are almost the same for creating SEO optimized content for your blog and guest post.  Start with keyword research.

  • Latest Information
Include the latest/updated information in your content. Your audience loves to read current information.

  • Create Unique content
Unique content means content that has not been published anywhere. Don't post the same content on multiple sites. It is duplicate, even if it is your blog post.

  • The Length
The Length of a guest post may vary from site to site. Usually, the publishers mention the requirement of minimum length in their guidelines. On most sites, you'll find it 800-1200 words.
  • Conclude post
Ask the readers to post comments. Conclude the article with a strong CTA that can drive traffic to your blog.
  • Proofread
Not checking/ correcting the mistake is a  Big  Common Mistake that you should avoid.
When your blog post is ready, to find minor errors, read it twice, top to bottom, and reverse. If detected, correct them before submission.

Step 5-Track Your Guest Posts

Tracking the results of guest posting is an essential step towards achieving your goal. For measuring the results,  you can use any free tool.

You can use Google Analytics, a great free tool for tracking traffic-related metrics. You analyze various metrics under four distinct sections, namely audience, acquisition, behavior, and conversion.

δΈ¨ Bonus Tips:

1. Promote your guest post on your blog and social media.
2. Reply to comment on the readers. It will help build relationships with them.

Final Thoughts

Guest Posting is not a get rich quick scheme. So, don't expect overnight success. You should have a mid to long-term strategy to get its implied benefits.

Consistent efforts to contribute value through unique, informative, and useful content help you reach a wider audience and explore your expertise.

The right strategy of guest blogging help increase your reputation and credibility and helps your brand push to new heights.
